About
This project is a recreation of Canicula: Snapshots of a Girlhood en la Frontera, by Norma Elia Cantú.
The members of the group are Jaqueline Ramirez and Felisha Bocanegra, two students at UTSA. The creation of a timeline accompanies original stories from Canicula: Snapshots of a Girlhood en la Frontera as well as the personal recreations from both Jaqueline Ramirez and Felisha Bocanegra. The use of photos and creative writing was used with the intention of making a collection of memoirs to represent autobiographical and biographical stories similar to those in Norma Cantu's work. The timeline focuses on time more than location and takes into consideration the inclusivity of both Spanish and English readers. Each story was translated into Spanish and English in order to create a work of both literary and translation studies that share stories of girlhood within the Mexican-United States border from two additional perspectives.
The timeline is organized by having Norma Elia Cantú's original stories and photos in the beginning of the timeline, later followed by stories from Jaqueline Ramirez and Felisha Bocanegra in the same manner.
